Bengaluru: A die-hard fan of KGF actor Yash who had immolated himself on Tuesday noon, after being unable to meet his idol, succumbed to burn injuries on Wednesday morning in Victoria Hospital.
The fan took the extreme step after he couldn't meet Yash to wish him birthday at his house in Hosakerehalli in Girinagar police station limits.
The police said the deceased, identified as Ravi Raghuram (22), a resident of Laggere in T. Dasarahalli, was the sole bread earner of the house.
The police said the incident happened around 2 pm near Little Flower School on the Ring Road in front of Yash's house. Ravi was rebuked by his father Rammana for not concentrating on his work and advised against visiting the actor's house, but he did not listen.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Ravi used to dress like actor Yash and was his fan.
He had come to the actors house to wish him on his birthday, but he had gone to Mumbai for some work. There was no one at Yash's house except for his mother and despite it being actor's birthday, there were no fans in front of the house, the police said. Police said that Ravi was denied entry by the watchman, who informed him that the actor was not in town.
According to Girinagar Police, Ravi allegedly begged the watchman to let him meet Yash. Unable to meet his star, Ravi allegedly got kerosene and immolated himself.
Shocked at the sudden turn of events, the security personnel at Yash's house with the help of passersby tried to douse the fire and informed the police. An ambulance was called and Ravi was rushed to the burns centre at Victoria Hospital.
Ravi's father told police that on Tuesday morning at around 10.15 am, when they were having breakfast, he had asked him not to visit Yash's house. However he did not listen and later took the extreme step.
Meanwhile after learning about the incident, Yash visited hospital and advised his fans not to indulge in such activities....
