Bengaluru: Chilled to bone? Blame it on cyclonic winds

One of the residents of Koramangala, Veeresh Shastri said, This was the coldest day this winter. My family preferred to stay indoors.

BENGALURU: The city witnessed one of the chilliest nights on Monday with the minimum temperature dipping to as low as 14 degrees Celsius.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the fluctuation of cyclonic winds over Bay of Bengal and Lakshwadeep Islands was a major reason behind the flow of the chilly winds in the city.

IMD Regional Director Dr Sundar Metri said, “The weather was chilly because the there were fluctuations in the cyclonic winds over the Bay of Bengal. The minimum temperature is 15.3 degrees which is close to normal.”

The temperature on the city outskirts was 13 degrees Celsius but the weatherman has apprised that it would not affect the weather of the city. The chilly winds gave Bengalureans the taste of the chilly weather that engulfed the entire city especially green areas near the Cubbon Park and Lalbagh.

One of the residents of Koramangala, Veeresh Shastri said, “This was the coldest day this winter. My family preferred to stay indoors.”

He further added that sunny mornings were one thing he enjoyed every day, but Monday’s chilly weather throughout the day was troublesome.

When asked if there was a possibility of temperature dipping further, Dr Metri added, “No, as of now there is no such possibility. The temperature is still close to normal.”
