Kerala Education Minister seeks report on student suicide

The authorities have sought details and proof on the alleged incident of copying and also on the complaints about the college.

Thiruvananathpuram: Education Minister C. Raveendranath has directed the KTU authorities to seek a report from the college on the incident in which Jishnu, a student of the Nehru College of Engineering, Pambadi, Thrissur committed suicide.

Minister’s office said that a decision on action against the college would be taken after getting the report from the university. Meanwhile, APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University Registrar informed it has asked Nehru College to submit a report on the student's suicide. Authorities of Technical University said that the college authorities had not reported about copying. The authorities have sought details and proof on the alleged incident of copying and also on the complaints about the college.

Meanwhile, KSU has called for an educational bandh on Tuesday demanding action against the college. Other student organisations including ABVP and SFI have also decided to intensify the strike against the college. Several prominent personalities like writer N.S. Madhavan and filmmaker Aashiq Abu has also condemned the incident.
