TS Babus Clinging to Plum Posts Will Be Sacked

Hyderabad: With several former bureaucrats appointed as advisers by the previous BRS regime still clinging to their posts, the Revanth Reddy government is said to have decided to sack them in a day or two.

Official sources told Deccan Chronicle that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to issue orders terminating the services of all the advisers and political appointees who did not put in papers following the change in guard. The highly controversial former bureaucrat Somesh Kumar, former chief secretary Rajeev Sharma, former DGP Alok Sharma, Press Academy chairman Allam Narayana were among the political appointees who were yet to resign.

Somesh Kumar, the blue-eyed boy of former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, held charge of several key departments besides being the Chief Secretary and enjoyed full powers till the Telangana High Court repatriated him to native Andhra Pradesh cadre. After taking voluntary retirement, Kumar got back to the power centre, becoming adviser to the Chief Minister.

Revanth Reddy had earlier attacked the lobby of officials including Somesh Kumar for allegedly colluding with the previous rulers and causing severe financial loss to the state exchequer. The Dharani portal, which the Congress has already announced it would scrap after coming to power, was the brainchild of Somesh Kumar.

Revanth Reddy, according to sources, would take up the reshuffle of bureaucracy after the Assembly session and allotment of portfolios to all the Cabinet ministers.
