Sirsi: Five people were killed in an accident near Bandala of Uttara Kannada district on Friday.
The victims, residents near Moodbidri of Dakshina Kannada district, were en route to attend a wedding in Sirsi when the incident occurred.
Police officials told Deccan Chronicle that the group had left their residence at around 5 am on Friday and was traveling on the Sirsi-Kumta highway.
At around 10:30 am, when they were near Bandala their vehicle collided with a bus approaching from the opposite direction.
While four individuals lost their lives on the spot, one succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Suhas, Pushpalatha, Vidyalakshmi, Ramakrishna Rao, and Aravind.
A case has been registered at the Sirsi Rural Police Station.
