Villagers holds up Vaigai express

According to the agitators, the level-crossing is closed half-an-hour before the arrival of any train.

TIRUCHY: The Madurai-Chennai super fast Vaigai express train was delayed for about an hour following a group of villagers detaining the train at Sannasipatti village near Tiruchy on Sunday, in protest against the railway level crossing located at their village closed for an unpredictably long time.

The villagers squatted on the track at the level crossing itself and resorted to rail-roko, forcing the Vaigai express to halt 100-m away from that spot.

According to the agitators, the level-crossing is closed half-an-hour before the arrival of any train, which resulted in great hardship to office-goers, school and college students. Despite their repeated representations to the railway authorities, the level-crossing did not close and open on time.
