Kozhikode: The forest department is flooded with rumours of a tiger being spotted in Peruvannamuzhi area. The forest officials who tried to meet the person, who claimed to have seen the tiger, have found it to be a hoax. Though the tiger was spotted at Poozhithod last week, it was not sighted since then and it is believed to have returned to the forest.
"When we follow the rumours and locate the person concerned, he would say that he didn't see it but had heard a sound. Or he would say that it was not tiger but a pig," said Peruvannmuzhi forest range officer T. Rayees. On Sunday last, the tiger threat hovered around Pashukadavu and Chembanoda areas.
