Alappuzha: Defending champions Kozhikode took the lead on the second day of the 59th edition of school youth festival here on Saturday. Kozhikode secured 501 points in both HS and HSS categories. Palakkad is second with 497 points while Thrissur is in the third place with 492 points, as per the data available with Poomaram app designed by the education department.
Competitions were underway in various categories. At stage number one at Leo XIII HSS, 27 Kuchipudi contestants, including 17 who filed appeals, vied for honours. Themes from epics, including Krishanaleela and killing of Mah-ishasura, dominated the competitions. The stage in Government Girls HSS witnessed Bharathanatyam and Keralnatayanam during the day and night.
Competitions in 76 categories were held on Saturday.
