Bengaluru: As video goes viral, youth held for assaulting mom

Bengaluru: The C.K. Acchukattu police have taken up a suo motu case against a 19-year-old youth, who was seen beating his mother with a broom in a viral video.

The accused has been identified as Jeevan, a student at a private college and the victim’s only son.

According to the police, he was addicted to smoking and alcohol and whenever his mother used to advise him, he would beat her up.

Having witnessed this drama on a daily basis, one of their neighbours recorded the entire incident on his mobile phone and uploaded it on a social media platform.

After seeing the disturbing video, DCP (South) Annamalai ordered his men to take up a suo motu case and take strict action.

The police searched the house of the victim, who refused to file a complaint or give any statement, fearing that her son would attack her again.

After registering the case, the police are on the lookout for Jeevan, who is currently on the run.
