Bengaluru: ACB raids houses, offices of two tainted officials
BENGALURU: A week after officials of Income-Tax and Central Bureau of Investigation officials cracked down on the houses of T.N. Chikkarayappa, Managing Director, Cauvery Neeravari Nigam and S.C. Jayachandra, Chief Project Officer, State Highway Development Project, the officials of state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids on the offices and residence of the two tainted babus in and around the city on Thursday.
According to a senior official, several teams of officials conducted simultaneous raids on Jayachandra’s houses and offices in Bengaluru and their relative’s house of Chikkarayappa in Kolar Gold Fields in Kolar. They have recovered huge amounts of documents pertaining to disproportionate incomes and other assets, sources claimed.
There are many accounts which the ACB is probing which are not taken into consideration by the central agencies earlier, a senior police officer said. The duo have been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the ACB officials who have seized documents pertaining to movable and immovable properties are verifying if all of them come under their proportionate income, he added.
