Pamidi Water Scheme was initiated during former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao\'s tenure for providing drinking water to 14 villages.

Kurnool: Finance minister Buggana Rajendranath on Wednesday announced revival of the Pamidi Water Scheme, a project initiated during former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao's tenure for providing drinking water to 14 villages.

During his visit of Peapully mandal, the minister said when YSR Congress government came to power, only two villages of the mandal had been receiving water occasionally.

But since then, the state government has invested ₹10 crore for improving water supply. Now, 17 villages in Peapully mandal are receiving a regular supply of drinking water, which exceeds the project's initial goal, Buggana pointed out.

He said as part of a larger effort at an expenditure of ₹350 crore, 77 tanks will be filled with water by transporting water through pipelines. Every house even in remote villages will receive water, he stated.

On the occasion, the minister also inaugurated a new bus service to Hyderabad, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the local people. Subsequently, he inspected construction of bus stand in the town.
