Akhil Reddy Bobba and Tanvi Patri Win AP Badminton Finals

AP\'s Akhil Reddy Bobba Claims Victory in U-15 Boys Singles Finals, Overcoming Top Seed Prateek Koundilya of Karnataka in Straight Sets

Vijayawada: Top seed players Prateek Koundilya of Karnataka and Diksha SR of Tamil Nadu lost their final matches against Akhil Reddy Bobba of AP and Tanvi Patri of Odisha in the under-15 boys’ and girls’ singles respectively in the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan's Yonex-Sunrise 2nd All India Sub Junior ranking badminton tournament.

In the under-15 boys’ finals, the top seed Prateek Koundilya of Karnataka lost to the eighth seed Akhil Reddy Bobba of Andhra Pradesh. In the girls’ segment, the seventh seed Tanvi Patri of Odisha lost to the top seed Diksha SR of Tamil Nadu.

The eight-day AP CM Jagan’s Yonex-Sunrise 2nd All India Sub Junior ranking badminton tournament concluded at the Dandamudi Rajagopala Rao Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday.

In the under-15 boys singles finals, AP's Akhil Reddy Bobba defeated top-seed Karnataka's Prateek Koundilya by straight two sets. Both players fought hard for the win. However, at last, Andhra Pradesh’s Akhil Reddy won the match by 21-19, 21-15 against Karnataka's Prateek Koundilya and emerged in the singles championship.

In the girls' singles, Tanvi Patri (Odisha) defeated Diksha SR of Tamil Nadu by 21-15, 21-19 scores. Also, in the boys’ doubles match, the top-seed players were defeated by the fourth-seed players.

Agriculture minister Kakani Goavardhan Reddy attended the event as chief guest and presented trophies to the winners and runners-up. He said that the state government is encouraging sports and games. Also, chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is offering jobs to the outstanding players at national and international levels, he noted.

AP badminton association president and Nellore urban development authority chairman Mukkala Dwarakanath and others participated in the event.
