Beware of suspicious symbols on doors, police tell Kovai citizens
Coimbatore: The district Police have alerted women and senior citizens to look for suspicious symbols on their outside doors as they could be a secret code by interstate offenders with a robbery plan.
According to police, few months ago, neighboring Kerala witnessed frequent male child kidnapping cases and serial burglaries by suspected inter-state offenders; prior to the incidents local residents witnessed suspicious symbols on external doors and compound walls.
Further investigations revealed those symbols were drawn by a team of north Indian burglars who entered residential areas during broad daylight like blanket sellers and drew symbols as an indication to their associates to convey whether it’s safe and potential house for a strike, in true filmy style.
A similar incident was witnessed by the residents of Vadavalli-Navavoor pririvu Bala Guru Nagar in suburbs of Coimbatore on Thursday, when residents saw a stranger drawing some symbol on the door of neighbor Mani’s house while she was out along with her family and the door remained locked for the past three days.
Before residents could reach him, the stranger escaped from the spot. On information Vadavalli police rushed to the spot and were shocked to see the symbol which indicates that “there are no men in the family and no dog”.
A special police team has launched a search for the stranger, while police have urged the residents to look for symbols on their doors and immediately wash it off in case they notice such symbols.
