Bengaluru: Despite the Supreme Court ruling and a sustained campaign to use only green crackers this Diwali, preliminary data available suggests that air pollution spiked in two stations, with the bursting of crackers, beyond the two hours limit during Diwali celebrations across the city, sending air pollution up.
Central Pollution Control Board monitors air pollution in the city at 5 monitoring stations at City Railway Station, Kadubeesanahalli, BTM Layout, Peenya and Basaveshwaranagar while the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board monitors data with six located across the city.
In both central and state board monitors at Hebbal and City Railway Station, the air pollution was the worst with highest level of PM10 and PM 2.5 particles.
