Bengaluru: Mayor Sampath Raj hopped on a two-wheeler and went around the city to inspect the ongoing pothole-filling works on Wednesday. At the BBMP west zone, he suspended an assistant engineer for not filling potholes. The suspended engineer, Bijjala Raju, is the fourth BBMP official to face action for failure to fill potholes over the last few days.
Mr Raj was shocked to see pothole-ridden stretches right next to the Majestic bus station. “Roads near Majestic and Anand Rao Circle are full of potholes. Though officials had been warned that the chief minister would pay a surprise visit to inspect the city roads, I saw many potholes today,” he said, and added that the official had to be suspended for his carelessness. “Suspensions will continue till the city is free of potholes. CM Siddaramaiah will inspect city roads anytime,” he said.
