Positive impact on fight against black money: BJP
Hyderabad: State BJP president Dr K. Laxman said when many nations worldwide had endorsed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation of high-value currency notes, the Congress and Communists were criticising it. Participating in an ‘anti-black money day’ to mark the first anniversary of demonetisation, Dr Laxman said it was part of a drive to eradicate black money mentioned the BJP’s 2014 manifesto. He said as the government had brought in legislation to seize benami properties, prevent black marketing and money laundering to weed out black money.
He said Rs 1.79 lakh crore of suspected black money had returned to the banks. He called upon the BJP to campaign for cashless transactions so that black money finds no place in the system. Former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya said the Congress’ opposition to eradicating black money would expose them to the wrath of the people. BJP city president and party MLC N. Ramachandra Rao questioned the ethical and moral grounds on which the Congress was opposing Mr Modi’s decision.
