No records? Deposit Rs 50,000 each: Karnataka High Court to 3 govt officials
Bengaluru: Expressing displeasure against three government officials for their causal and nonchalant attitude, the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday granted them one more week to produce the entire relevant records pertaining to a case, with their affidavits subject to the condition that all the three deposit a Rs 50,000 each from their personal resources within three days.
The court said that it is surprising that all the three officers – Renuka Prasad, Assistant Commissioner, Mangaluru, T.G. Guruprasad, Tahsildar, Mangaluru taluk, and Naveen Kumar, Panchayat Development Officer, Belma Village, who were present in the court – did not bring the entire relevant records of the case, despite clear directions from the court on the previous occasion.
“Such a causal and nonchalant behaviour on part of the officers of the government does not deserve to be countenanced. They may also show cause why the said amount may not be awarded as cost and compensation to the petitioner or may not be transferred to the legal service authority," the court said.
Kateel knocks on HC doors
BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has approached the High Court, seeking directions to quash the proceedings against him in a Mangaluru court. The complaint is based on an FIR registered against him over charges of obstructing a police officer. The FIR was registered against Mr Kateel for allegedly threatening the police during the recent BJPs Mangaluru Chalo protest.
