Akbaruddin Owaisi lauds K Chandrasekhar Rao for Wakf Board sealing
Hyderabad: Akbaruddin Owaisi, MIM floor leader in the Assembly, on Wednesday lauded Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his decision to seal Wakf Board office in Nampally. He said that the Wakf Board had become a den of irregularities and a thorough probe has to be conducted to bring out the irregularities. During a debate in the House, Mr Owaisi exposed the irregularities in the Wakf Board, saying a sweeper gets a Rs 80,000 per month, attender gets Rs 40,000, dispatch worker takes home Rs 80,000 and driver has Rs 7,000 as monthly salary.
“A day will come when people will ask us to recommend for attender’s jobs in the Wakf Board to earn more,” he remarked. Mr Owaisi said Wakf officials have turned a blind eye to the encroachment of Wakf lands in all districts. In Hyderabad, 1,650 acres have been encroached. In Rangareddy, 13,480 acres out of 14,785 acres was encroached. In Adilabad, 9,189 acres out of 10,119 acres was encroached, Mr Owaisi said. “They have looted the Wakf Board all these years. The CM has taken a bold decision to seal the Wakf Board office and ordered an inquiry into the irregularities,” Mr Owaisi said. He said even the shops in Wakf buildings were rented out for Rs 200 and Rs 400 per month in prime locations.
