ACB Court Extends Naidu\'s Remand in Skill Development Case

Vijayawada: TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu suffered a setback on Monday, with the AP High Court denying him anticipatory bail in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road Alignment scam case, the AP FibreNet case and the Angallu violence case in Annamayya district. Elsewhere, the ACB court rejected his bail petition.

In Delhi, the Supreme Court moved to Tuesday, Naidu’s quash petition. Monday’s developments unnerved the Telugu Desam rank and file.

Naidu is lodged in the Rajahmundry central prison in relation to the skill development scam and the CID is seeking his custody for questioning in the Inner Ring Road and FibreNet cases. Justice Suresh Reddy of the AP High Court refused the anticipatory bail petitions in these two cases, as well as the Angallu violence case in which Naidu and some TD leaders are accused of an alleged attempt to murder policemen on August 4.

Advocate Krishna Murthy told the media that the High Court had rejected two regular petitions on technical grounds. It opined that in the Fibrenet scam case, bail could not be granted as the investigation was in the final stages.

The ACB special court in Vijayawada on Monday while dismissing the bail petition of Naidu in the '371 crore skill development scam gave him a small relief: It also the custody petition filed by the CID seeking his custody for five days. Naidu had filed the bail petition on September 21, the day of his arrest.

When the CID sought police custody, Naidu’s counsel argued that he cooperated with the investigating officers during questioning and there was no need for further extension of custody.

The lawyers representing Naidu said that they would move the High Court to seek bail for the former CM.
