Telangana: Campaigns to spread awareness
Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar said that there will be extensive campaigns in schools, colleges and at other institutions to spread awareness about the dangers of selfies.
“Apart from the schools and colleges in the city, we will also be creating awareness campaigns on social media platforms to reach out to the masses and warn them about the risks. Our aim is to prevent precious lives from being lost,” Mr Kumar said. The craze for selfies is endangering their lives as they take pictures of themselves in dangerous situations just to get more “‘likes” and comments on social media, said another official from the city police department.
An official from the Railways said that they have deployed personnel at stations to warn those trying to take pictures of themselves near the tracks. Officials at stations have been alerted to watch out for kids or youngsters attempting to click a photo standing on the edge of the platform.
