Telangana: NSUI observes bandh at Engineering colleges
Hyderabad: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) and Telangana Engineering JAC observed a joint bandh on Monday at all the engineering colleges.
The bandh call came after the authorities ‘failed’ to heed the students’ demand for conducting supplementary exams for students with backlog.
About 500 students participated in the protest during which 10 students were detained but released later.
The students’ organisation and the Telangana Engineering JAC held protests at different colleges in various districts such as Warangal, Khammam, and Karimnagar and closed all the engineering colleges which led to the closure of many. The students also burnt an effigy of the JNTUH vice-chancellor.
The student leaders said that even after several protests and representations they failed to get justice for the engineering students of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH) and Osmania University. The students alleged that despite their requests the universities were not conducting advance supplementary examinations for the engineering students. Hence thousands of students were being detained by the respective universities.
