Mysuru: 65 movies for just Rs 300! Dasara treat for film buffs

24 foreign and 24 Kannada films to be screened from October 12 to 17.

Mysuru: If you are a film buff, this Dasara could be right up your street as you can watch 65 films in a multiplex for just Rs 300 during the film festival from October 12 to 17, which will also feature workshops on short filmmaking hosted by noted film directors.

As many as 24 foreign films 18 panorama films in 15 Indian languages from across the country, one Kodava, one Tulu, and 24 popular Kannada films will be screened as part of the festival. All you need is a one time pass of Rs 300 to see them all.

A contest of Kannada short films is also being held as part of the festival, which will be inaugurated on Wednesday at the Kalamandir, at a star studded event.

There is more to look forward to with the tourism department and Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation, holding an open street festival and a lantern festival and presenting a 3D projection mapping of Mysuru this Dasara. An open- bus tour of the city and a hop- on -hop off tour of its attractions has also been arranged between October 10 to 20.

On the open- bus tourists will hear all about Mysuru from a professional guide while enjoying some juice, a chocolate, wafers and biscuits. While the hop- on hop- off tour will touch 15 tourism destinations, you can see a 3D projection mapping on the history and heritage of Mysuru before the Town Hall from October 14 to 18.

At the daylong open street festival on October 13 the Krishnaraja Boulevard road will be taken over by musicians, food trucks, magicians and vendors selling desi fashion accessories and other items.

Besides learning pottery making, people will be able to get their portraits done by street artists and a Sound and Light Show on the history of Srirangpatna will kick off at the Srirangpatna fort on October 10.
