Ex-BJP leader booked for misbehaviour

A case was registered against Kanhar, who is also accused of trespassing into a woman's house and misbehaving with her.

Bhubaneshwar: Former Phulbani MLA and BJD leader Debendra Kanhar, who went hiding after his sex video with a woman went viral was arrested on Monday evening in Andhra Pradesh, police said.

Kanhar was arrested from Ichchapuram in the neighbouring state. A case was registered against Kanhar, who is also accused of trespassing into a woman’s house and misbehaving with her.

The victim, a resident of Goudapada, in her complaint filed on September 5 alleged that the former MLA and his driver Rinku Sahoo had trespassed into their house and misbehaved with her and her mother on September 3.

A case was also registered against a woman who circulated the obscene video of Debendra.

Police had registered a case under Sections 451 (house-trespass), 294 (obscene act), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (molestation), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 370 (exploitation) of the IPC against the politician and his driver.

Later in the evening, Debendra was sent to judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected by the Phulbani SDJM Court.
