Rapid response may become part of policy

Simultaneously the nearest ambulance available will also be directed by the call centre to reach the spot.

New Delhi: During his interaction with the 2015 batch IAS officers, a presentation on rapid response for accident victims by one of the officers caught Prime Minister Narendra Modi's attention.

This way, sources said, the ambulance will reach the accident spot in a span of minutes, thus avoiding wastage of crucial time and helping in saving the life of a critically injured victim.

Normally if a call is made through the medical emergency phone number 108, which is operational in 21 states across the country, it takes time for the ambulance to reach the accident spot which may prove fatal in many cases.

However with the help of this software, a call made from the accident site will be tracked by the call centre which in turn will send an SMS immediately to the affected person, informing about the time in which the ambulance will reach the place. Simultaneously the nearest ambulance available will also be directed by the call centre to reach the spot.

Sources informed this newspaper that the Prime Minister is learnt to have been impressed with the presentation and even praised the officer concerned for being imaginative. Sources pointed out that the proposed concept could even become part of a larger policy decision.
