No broadband, no licence: KT Rama Rao
K.T. Rama Rao said clearance/completion certificate should be given only to buildings that laid broadband ducts during construction.
Hyderabad: IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday urged the Centre to link provision for broadband facility with granting permissions for new buildings.
He said clearance/completion certificate should be given only to buildings that laid broadband ducts during construction.
He said categorisation of broadband service as a utility and mandating duct laying would pave way for an unprecedented increase in broadband penetration.
In his letter, Mr Rao requested Union communications minister Manoj Sinha to intervene and ensure that directions are issued from the Union ministry of urban development to all state governments to implement the norm.
