Chandrababu Naidu wants a world-class riverfront to draw tourists

Chandrababu Naidu has asked officials and consultants to prepare necessary plans to develop the Krishna riverfront.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked officials and consultants to prepare necessary plans to develop the Krishna riverfront adjoining the capital on international standards. In a review meeting held with minister P. Narayana, officials and consultants, at his residence on Saturday, the CM advised the consultants to prepare plans for development of 32 km riverfront of international standards to develop navigation and tourism.

He said the riverfront should be developed for cargo passage, water sports and tourism. Mr Naidu plans to allot the 24 km stretch for various creative research and innovative centres and educational institutions to provide a pleasant atmosphere for students to develop innovative thinking. Mr Naidu also sought development of islands including Bhavani Island, which would help eco tourism. He said resorts should be developed in the islands to attract both national and international tourists.

Referring to flood flow, the CM stressed on the need for strengthening of river bunds and channelising water flow for navigation and to prevent inundation of the area. Mr Narayana, consultants for Amaravati blue and green city development and officials were present.
