Naidu main accused, Lokesh's Role to be Probed: AP CID

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh CID informed that it has arrested Telugu Desam chief and former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the main accused in the skill development scam case on Saturday. AP CID Additional DG N Sanjay briefed the media about the arrest.

“We arrested Chandrababu in Nandyal at 6 o'clock this morning. He is the main accused in the skill development scam, the main conspirator in the scam, and he is also the final beneficiary. The investigation revealed that Naidu was the main accused. He needs to be questioned to get more details regarding the scam.”

On further investigation, Sanjay said, “The CID is investigating to whose accounts the government money was diverted illegally. CID is also investigating the role of Chandrababu Naidu's son Nara Lokesh. The probe is also on regarding the role of Kilaru Rajesh. Lokesh's role in the AP Fiber Net and Inner Ring Road scams will also be investigated in depth.”

He added that in the skill development scam, funds were diverted to Shell company through fake invoices and Chandrababu knows about all transactions. He further said that Naidu should be questioned regarding the diversion of funds for which he was arrested. The official stated that important documents related to the scam have been destroyed.

Sanjay said, “In 2014, an agreement was signed between the AP Higher Education Council and Siemens. After the signing of MoU, Skill Corporation was formed in July of the same year. Ganta Subba Rao acted as CEO and Ganta Subba Rao was given the posts of CEO, MD, Advisor to the Higher Education Council, and Advisor to the Chief Minister. Though the state government has invested Rs. 371 crores as its share, Siemens has not invested any funds into the project. The objections of the Finance Department and Chief Secretary were also ignored.”
