Mahasabha to adopt flood-hit Kodagu village

The Mahasabha lead by president RP Ravishankar has decided to help the people of Madikeri, Mr Shetty added.

Mangaluru: The Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha has decided to adopt a village affected by natural calamity in Madikeri.

Karavali Sree Kanyakaparameshwari Arya Vysya Sangha president S R Kubera Shetty said that the village identified by the government would be adopted by the organisation.

“Once the state government issues an order, the specified village would be adopted and developed in six months with an estimated expenditure of about Rs 2 crore,” Mr Shetty said.

“The Arya Vaishya Community has always responded and extended help during natural calamities including the 2009 Raichur floods. The Mahasabha lead by president RP Ravishankar has decided to help the people of Madikeri,” Mr Shetty added.

The works that would be undertaken in the adopted village would include help to construct and repair houses, household materials, repair of schools and construction of toilets in addition to drinking water, power supply, furniture, agriculture tools and fodder.
