Hyderabad: The 'big dreams' of TRS corporators in GHMC limits of making it to the Assembly have put the TRS in trouble in city. Corporators are demanding seats for themselves or their spouses. The party has been facing trouble in declaring tickets for Kukatpally, Serilingampally, Qutbullapur and Musheerabad Assembly seats.
Though TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao declared the party's list of candidates for 105 out of 119 Assembly seats on September 6, on the day the Assembly was dissolved, he was forced to keep tickets for seats in the city pending due to pressure from corporators and leaders who had defected from other parties.
There are three to four serious contenders for each seat in the city, making it difficult for party leadership to chose among them. These leaders are threatening to revolt and contest as rebel candidates if they are denied tickets. Home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy is learnt to be upset at the party not nominating his son-in-law Srinivas Reddy, corporator from Ramnagar, for the Musheerabad seat.
Mr Narasimha Reddy has been indicating that if it is not possible to field his son-in-law, he should be given the chance to contest from the seat but that it should not be allotted to others. The party is learnt to be considering Mr Muta Gopal who defected from the TD for this seat, which is being opposed by the home minister.
IT minister K.T. Rama Rao has been trying to pacify the aspirants, promising to accommodate them in nominated posts after TRS returns to power. The supporters of Madhapur corporator Jagadishwar Goud have threatene to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan if the Serilingampally seat is not alloted to him. His wife Poojitha is the corporator from Hafizpet.
Balajinagar corporator Kaavya Reddy has demanded the Kukatpally Assembly seat for her husband Harish Reddy. There is also a tug of war for the Malkajgiri and Medchal constituencies. The party has finalised the name of Ms Chintala Vijayashanthi, daughter-in-law of legislator Kanaka Reddy for the Malkajgiri seat. With stiff opposition from TRS MLC Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao and five other corporators, the party put it on hold. Malkajgiri MP C.Malla Reddy, who defected from the Telugu Desam to the TRS, has been trying to secure Malkajgiri Assembly seat.
