Speaker Dhanapal summons TTV Dhinakaran's 19 MLAs
Chennai: Speaker P. Dhanapal on Friday rejected the plea of 19 AIADMK (Amma) MLAs supporting party deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran to give 15 days to reply to the Speaker's notice and ordered that only seven days would be given for them.
The Speaker said all 19 MLAs should be present before him on September 14 and give explanation for his notice asking them why they could not be disqualified for meeting Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao and withdrawing support to Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
The MLAs had met the Governor on August 22 and withdrew support to Palaniswami. After the meeting, government whip Rajendran gave a complaint to the Speaker that the legislators had acted against the party.
The Speaker who issued notice the 19 MLAs asked them to reply to them on September 5. However, the legislators met the Assembly secretary on September 5 and sought 15 days for giving their reply.
