According to Dr. Sundar S Metri, Head of Meteorological Department, the city may witness such heavy showers in the coming days.

"Both systems have acted at once. Due to low atmospheric pressure (trough) and upper air cyclonic circulation, Bengaluru received heavy rainfall on Friday," Dr Sundar explained.

The MET department has forecast rain and thundershowers over coastal, south interior and north interior Karnataka till Sunday.

The all-India weather inference report stated, "The north-south trough occurred in central Maharashtra to south Tamil Nadu, across Karnataka. It extended up to 0.9 km above mean sea level with an embedded upper air cyclonic circulation over north interior Karnataka and neighbouring regions."
