Hyderabad: Nehru Zoo may face staff crunch

The protesters demanded that the assistant curator Murlidhar be transferred and two suspended grade four employees be taken back.

Hyderabad: Animals at Nehru Zoo may soon have less people to take care of them as the management has decided to do away with a major chunk of the outsourced contractual employees for not performing their duty. The decision was taken after protests rocked the Zoo on Friday as over 200 employees both permanent and contractual protested against the management’s decision to suspend two permanent employees allegedly without any memo or notice. This left very few hands at the zoo to perform daily duties.

The protestors alleged that the assistant Curator Muralidhar has been using high handed means to dictate the employees and conspired the two fourth grade employees suspension. The protesters demanded that the assistant curator Murlidhar be transferred and two suspended grade four employees be taken back.

A senior veterinary doctor who requested anonymity state that protests were a regular issue in the zoo as the main load of work was being done by contractual employees for years without any benefits.
