Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday told the advocate generals of both AP and Telangana to find out an amicable solution for distributing the employees of the power utilities of both states.
A division bench comprising Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy and Justice M.S.K. Jaiswal, while hearing petitions by around 1,200 employees of Transco, Genco and power distribution companies challenging their allocation to AP, asked D. Prakash Reddy, the AG of Telangana, and Mr Dammalapati Srinivas to work out modalities to settle the issue employees through talks. The bench postponed the case to September 22.
MLA moves court on citizenship
Ramesh Chennamaneni, the TRS MLA of Vemulawada, has moved the Hyderabad High Court challenging the proceedings conducted by the Union Home Ministry on August 31, 2017 for cancelling his citizenship contending that it violated the Indian Citizenship Act and Article 14 of the Constitution. He was granted citizenship by Germany in 1993.
He said the Union of India granted him Indian citizenship in 2007 based on a recommendation by the superintendent of police, considering his service to the people.
He urged the court to declare the action of the Union Home Ministry as illegal and to restore his citizenship.
PIL to protect Bison grounds
A PIL has been moved in the Hyderabad High Court challenging the decision of the Centre to give up the Bison Polo Grounds for constructing the Secretariat and the decision of the state to construct the Secretariat there.
The PIL was moved by former DGP M.V. Bhaskar Rao, cricketer Vivek Jaysimha, Charted Accountant T. Bharadwaj and retired squadron leader Anil Bhalla. They said the decision of the Centre violates the provisions of the Cantonment Act and the Constitution.
