YSRC calls for bandh to protest denial of special category status

Reddy said that the statement by Jaitley had no mention of special status and was against the interest of the state.

Hyderabad: AP opposition leader Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has called for a state-wide bandh on September 10 to protest the denial of special category status by Centre and the Telugu Desam government’s failure to take up the issue. Speaking to media at the AP Legislative Assembly premises on Thursday, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the statement by Union finance minister Arun Jaitley had no mention of special status and was against the interest of the state.

“Mr Naidu agreeing to the Centre’s statement shows his indifference towards the issue and he should resign immediately. In protest against the Centre’s neglect towards the special status, we call for a bandh on September 10,” said Jagan. Many groups, including the Left parties in AP have agreed to join the protests for the state’s special status, he added.
