KCR picks Golconda Fort for August 15 fete
Hyderabad: The state government will hold the Independence Day celebrations at the historic Golconda Fort again, after a gap of one year. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will unfurl the National Flag at the fort on August 15 at 10.30 am.
Last year, the government suspended celebrations of Independence Day at Golconda Fort because of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead, the CM unfurled the flag at Pragathi Bhavan, his official camp office-cum-residence.
Chandrasekhar Rao has been unfurling the Tricolour at Golconda Fort on Independence Day every year since the formation of Telangana state in 2014. Prior to that, the celebrations used to be held at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Monday held a review meeting with senior officials of departments concerned at BRKR Bhavan to discuss and finalise the arrangements at Golconda fort. The CS asked officials to make elaborate arrangements on the occasion in a befitting manner.
The police has been directed to make tight security arrangements as well as fine-tune traffic management for ensuring that no inconvenience is caused to the public. Similarly, R&B department has been asked to provide necessary infrastructure at the venue.
Cultural department has been instructed to mobilise cultural troupes in large numbers to depict the rich cultural heritage of Telangana state.
Health department has been asked to keep adequate masks and sanitisers in sufficient numbers at the venue in view of Coronavirus pandemic.
R&B special chief secretary Sunil Sharma, additional DG Jitender, city police commissioner Anjani Kumar, principal secretary (GAD) Vikas Raj, energy secretary Sandeep Kumar Sulthania, secretary to Governor Surender Mohan and other officials attended the meeting.
