Karimnagar: The first convocation of the Satavahana University, which was established in 2008 in the united Andhra Pradesh was held in an ambience of excellent achievements of the University over the past 11 years here at V-Convention hall in Karimnagar on Thursday.

Gold medals and certificates were handed over to meritorious students who pursued their education in various colleges that were under the Satavahana University.

Those students who had completed their education in the Satavahana University 11 years ago, participated in the grand festival which was observed by the academic world where the new graduates and post graduates certificates were presented by the university administration along with gold medals to the meritorious students.

The students were asked to come dressed in white for the occasion and were allotted special seating along with the invitees and special guests who attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Agarwal said that universities play a key role in shaping the future of students. and advised the students to inculcate creative thinking to face the competitive world and to reach greater heights. There were many people who ruled the world with their creative skills. Students can develop their creative capabilities by participating actively in cultural activities and by being aware of new things and strange happenings that are taking place in the world.

Mr Agarwal suggested that the professors teach moral values as well to the students who were pursuing education in the universities and asked them to motivate their students to develop questioning and reasoning skills.

Later, the university in-charge Vice-chancellor T. Chiranjeevulu read the history of the university and the courses that were offered and about the reforms that were being taken up for the development of the university keeping in mind the future of the students.

It is to be noted that, the University officials invited Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan as the chief guest for the programme. But at the last minute due to some unforeseen reasons, the Governor did not attend the function.

Students who thought that they would be receiving medals and certificates from the Governor were disappointed. About 131 students received gold medals and 151 students received rank certificates from the dignitaries. The programme was held successfully under the supervision of the University Registrar.
