Mullapally Ramachandran meets Guv, urges judicial probe
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Mullapally Ramachandran on Thursday met Governor P. Sathasivam demanding a judicial probe into the alleged fraud in the PSC exams.
The party also decided to step up its protest over the scam but had to postpone the day and night sit-in before the PSC office for a second time following heavy rains that left a trail of destruction across the state Thursday.
The KPCC president, in his letter to the governor, expressed his concern about the future of young jobseekers.
"Almost one crore youth are writing 200 PSC exams every year. The trust being awarded to PSC has since been gone, which has affected lots of youths and their parents who had high hopes on their children getting a job," it said.
But he told reporters that he was not keen on cancelling the police constable rank list on which the SFI leaders charged with cheating in exams occupies top ranks.
He said that it would dampen the spirits of those applicants who had worked and studied hard for the test.
A Raj Bhavan communique said the governor had assured him of appropriate consideration of his petition.
Youth Congress state general secretary C. R. Mahesh, meanwhile, told DC that the state YC committee had not decided to hold the day and night protest before the PSC office on Thursday.
Initially, it was scheduled to be held for July last week. But it had to be postponed as YC state president Dean Kuriakose MP was attending the crucial parliament session.
"The Parliament session had ended, and Dean and I would have to stage the protest soon," said Mr Mahesh.
Thiruvananthapuram parliament committee of the YC held a protest march to the PSC office on Thursday demanding a CBI probe resignation of its chairman M. K. Sakeer.
A senior Congress leader told DC that there is confusion prevailing on YC holding protest by the KPCC leadership as the YC elections are due.
Mr Ramachandran and Mr Kuriakose were not available for comment.
