Kerala State Disaster Management Authority: Avoid hilly areas, water bodies
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With heavy rains continuing in the state, the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMSA) has asked people to take all precautionary measures. Nobody should enter areas which are water logged or flooded. Extra precaution needs to be taken in the case of children.
Since holiday has been declared in 11 districts, the parents should take extra care to ensure their children do not enter water-logged areas or flooded places. They should also avoid going to river or crossing it. The tourists have been advised to avoid flood affected areas. Night travel in high range areas should also be avoided, the SDMA said.
In the event of snapping of power lines or damage to electric poles, information should be passed on to KSEB authorities. In case if the information cannot be passed on to the KSEB section office, then it should be conveyed on phone number – 9496010101. The exact location of the snapped live power lines or uprooting of posts should be brought to the notice of the officials. The KSEB customer care facility can be used for restoration of power supply.
