Kerala University to cancel Sivarenjith’s PG registration

The sub-committee also recommended the debarring of those who supervised the examinations written by the accused.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala University will cancel the PG registration of Sivarenjith, the accused in the University College stabbing case. It is suspected that he had been indulging in malpractices in the BSc chemistry degree examinations. A report recommending action against him was submitted to the senate on Thursday by the university sub-committee comprising Professor K.G. Gopachandran, Dr K. B. Manoj and Dr K. Lalitha, which inquired into the missing answer scripts.

The sub-committee also recommended the debarring of those who supervised the examinations written by the accused.

Earlier, controller of examinations in charge Mini Dijo Kappen had reported to the syndicate that university-allotted answer sheets were found from the house of Sivarenjith. Each college is given an answer sheet according to a serial number. The answer sheets recovered from Sivarenjith's house were part of the bundles of answer papers received by the University College on May 5, 2015 and April 1, 2016 as per the serial numbers.

The university had earlier also sought a vigilance cell to probe such issues in the future and the service of an officer not below the rank of SP for the purpose.
