Chennai: The Kanchi mutt pontiff Vijayendra Saraswathi on Wednesday condoled the death of DMK president M. Karunanidhi, recalling his support to the famous Shaivite mutt on many occasions, senior BJP leader L. Ganesan said.
Ganesan said he received a message from the pontiff, Vijayendra Saraswathi, “where I was asked to extend the mutt's condolences and sympathies with the family of Kalaignar, especially Mr M. K. Stalin,” the son of the departed leader.
Karunanidhi was often supportive of the mutt, Ganesan said in a statement, quoting the the religious head. Ganesan, who had already paid tributes to the mortal remains of Karunanidhi at Rajaji Hall, said he once again went there as a “representative” of the mutt and conveyed the message to Stalin.
