Illegal hoardings: Karnataka High Court pulls up government
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday pulled up authorities with regard to the matters concerning removal of illegal hoardings, flexes and banners.
This time the court expressed displeasure over officers sitting over the files concerning advertisement bye-laws for more than a year, and observed that the government should work on a hourly basis and not on a yearly basis.
On the delay over taking steps with regard to advertisement bye laws, when the state submitted that show-cause notices have been issued to two section officers of the department, the court observed, “We have expressed our prima facie reservations in the matter that only the section officers are alleged to be liable for not attending on the file for over one year. Be that as it may, without further comments in the matter, we would expect the Chief Secretary to examine the matter and take appropriate steps and proceedings, as deemed fit and necessary by him. We would expect an affidavit of the Chief Secretary to be filed in this regard”.
The state government advocate also submitted the investigation report with regard to the attack on BBMP workers while they were attempting to remove the flexes. When the court sought up know what was the further development in the case, Advocate General Uday Holla submitted that three arrests have been made and further investigations was on.
