Hyderabad: The Telangana Wakf Board, chairman, Mohammed Saleem Qureshi, on Monday announced that the board will be providing free graveyard space for burials.
He said, “Instructions have been given to all police stations and masjids in Telangana regarding the same.” Though a few people suggested we charge for the graveyard space, we have taken a decision not to do so. We have realised, if we begin charging Rs 1,000, it will increase and go up to Rs 10,000, he added.
We have received complaints against qazis, that they are charging over Rs 1,000 as nikah fees, to curb this we will call for a meeting in the coming week and will put up the revised fee after consulting qazis. A circular will be issued informing the people the revised fees of qazis, he added.
