N Chandrababu Naidu and Australian delegation meet to boost ties

They discussed potential projects in several key areas where the Australians have an expertise.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu met an Australian delegation headed by Consul General Sean Kelly to discuss opportunities to improve relations between the two nations. They discussed potential projects in several key areas where the Australians have an expertise, including mining, road transport, education and dry land agriculture.

The delegation included representatives from Queensland and Western Australia and included Sandra Diethelm, who met the Chief Minister here on Tuesday and said that they are keen to find more ways of collaborating with the Andhra Pradesh government.

The team members said, “We are investing a lot of resources in the potential of this new-born state. The chief minister’s forward-thinking attitude and development-oriented goals motivate us to keep working on the AP-Australia ties.” It was stated that an MoU for setting up a university in Andhra Pradesh will be signed soon. The delegation said it has been working on a Geological Survey Assistance System that will enable high quality geological mapping of Andhra Pradesh.

The MoU for this too, is ready to be signed by the two parties. Mr Sean Kelly also proposed a project to improve Road Traffic Management. The Chief Minister was pleased with the proposals and promised the delegation that the departments of the GoAP will support and coordinate as much as they need. Mr Kelly informed the CM, of the Australia Business Week in India, for which the Deputy Premier of Western Australia will be visiting as a special delegate. The event will be held by the end of this month.

He requested the CM to take out some time to meet him in Vijayawada. The CM agreed to this. Mr Kelly also proposed to improve road traffic management. He said that the investment for this project will be minimum for the GoAP, as the system will work on the basis of revenue sharing, from funds collected from violators.
