Hyderabad water board notified slums to get piped water soon

At present, 46,000 households in 303 slums receive free water through tankers daily, according to board managing director M Dana Kishore.

Hyderabad: Digging of roads to lay 75 km of drinking water pipelines in the core city will begin from September.

Roads which have been newly laid will have to be dug up again to lay the water lines.The Water Board project will provide drinking water connections to every household in the notified slums.

At present, 46,000 households in 303 slums receive free water through tankers daily, according to board managing director M Dana Kishore.

The board has sanctioned Rs 26 crore for the pipeline network and tenders will be called in a month and the deadline is February 2018, Mr Kishore said.

“Connections to every household will be provided at Rs 1. The board wants to do away with tanker supply to these slums,” he said.
