Bengaluru: II PU student hangs self over trivial row

The deceased, K.S. Anupama, was a II PU student at the Malleswaram Government PU College.

Bengaluru: A 17-year-old II PU student hanged herself from the ceiling of her residence in Kamlanagaer on Monday after her mother allegedly denied her money to celebrate Friendships Day. The deceased, K.S. Anupama, was a II PU student at the Malleswaram Government PU College.

Anupama was upset after her mother told her to make do with whatever money she had to celebrate the Friendship Day and refused to give Rs 1,000 that she had asked for. Anupama’s mother still went to her sister’s house to ask for the money, but by the time she returned, the girl had hanged herself. When her mother returned home the door was locked. When Anupama did not open the door after repeated knocks, the mother broke open the door to find the teenager hanging. The neighbours informed the police, who visited the spot.
