5 arrested for BJP activist's murder: Dr G Parameshwar
Mysuru: Five accused have been arrested in connection with the murder of BJP activist Raju, said Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwar here on Monday.
Participating in the passing out parade of the first batch of women constables from the Police Training Academy, he said, the department has taken up the case seriously and special teams are being formed to nab the assailants, he said.
On a bomb blast on the premises of the court here recently, he said, “So far no organisation has claimed responsibility. Experts from NIA and intelligence department have visited the spot. There is a close co-relation between the incidents at the courts in Kollam in Kerala and Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.”
On Mysuru Congress unit president S. Ravishankar’s attack on a pharmaceutical shop owner, he said, “There is no question of protecting anybody. Even in the case of Marigowda (a close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who allegedly threatened Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Shikha), we have sought his removal from the party.”
He said that a committee has been formed to review the salaries of police personnel and their salaries will be revised shortly, he said.
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has given his consent to fill up 25,000 vacancies in the Police Department. Of that, 20 percent of the posts are being reserved for women. The Department has already recruited 6,000 personnel, who are undergoing training. A notification for the recruitment of another 8,000 personnel and 650 sub-inspectors will be given soon. In all, 19,600 police personnel will be appointed by the end of this year,” he said.
He clarified that the bomb blast in Mysuru will not impact Dasara festivities and heavy security arrangements will be made. People need not have any fear, he said.
