Park-playgrounds coming up in 19 mandals in Telangana
Khammam: In what comes as music to the ears of children from 19 mandals, the state government has proposed to develop playgrounds along with parks.
The park-playground, with MGNREGA funds, will come up amid lush greenery spread over 9.25 acres. Twenty varieties of plants including amla, berry, jackfruit, lemon, tamarind, palm, almond, custard apple, guava, pomegranate, bamboo and pitted fruit will be raised around the playground.
Officials have already identified sites in 19 mandals and they have commenced marking.
The mandals include Batulapalli in Kallur mandal, Teldarpalli in Khammam Rural, Tanikella in Konigerla, Nayakangudem in Kusumanchi, Appalanarasimhapuram in Nelakondapalli, Kothalankapalli in Penuballi, V Venkatayapalem in Raghunathapalem, Appaigudem in Karepalli, Vengannapet in Tallada, Pallevada in Vemsoor, Kondakodima in Wyra and Mulapocharam in Enkoor, Chirunomula in Bonakal, Pedagopavaram and Rajupalem in Yerrupalem, Jagannathapuram in Chintakani and Athkuru in Madhira mandal. The park-playground will also come up in the mandal headquarters of Tirumalayapalem and Mudigonda. The parks will be around a five-kilometre radius for about six to seven gram panchayats.
The cost of each such recreation facility is around Rs 25 lakh. The park will be divided into four parts with each segment boasting of different plant varieties. Each park will be developed in 1.71 acres and the extent of four parks is 6.86 acres.
