Papers shifted out of Secretariat
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has started the process of shifting departments out of the Secretariat building to different buildings temporarily, until the new Secretariat is built after demolishing the old one.
First the General Administration Depar-tment (GAD) will be shifted to Burgula Ramakrishna Rao Bhavan (BRKR Bhavan). Several departments have started packing away files and other material for shifting. The officials said that they have received oral instructions to move out.
Most of the departments will be shifted to BRKR Bhavan, which is closer to the current Secretariat. The Chief Minister’s chamber, CMO officials, Chief Secretary and his peshi will move into the 8th and 9th floors of BRKR Bhavan.
The forest department will be shifted to Aranya Bhavan and Irrigation, Transport and Roads & Building departments will be shifted to Jala Soudha and the Engineering- in-Chief’s offices will be in Errum Manzil.
The AP government recently handed over the MLA quarters at Adarsha Nagar to the Telangana government. Of the 50 quarters that are vacant here, the Telangana government has decided to utilise 15 to house various departments temporarily.
The government wants the move to be completed in three or four days but the officials said it may take some more time — a week to 10 days.
