Congress seeks memorial for YSR in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Telangana and AP Congress leaders paid rich tributes to late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy on his 70th birth anniversary on Monday.
Congress leaders conducted a programme at Gandhi Bhavan which was attended by APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy, MP K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, who was a close friend of the late Chief Minister, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Shabbir Ali, Mallu Ravi, AICC secretary Gidugu Rudra Raju, Gudur Narayana Reddy, Dasoju Sravan and others.
TPCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy said that Telugu people would never forget Dr Rajasekhar Reddy and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should construct a memorial for him in Hyderabad.
Mr Raghuveera Reddy said people were happy during his YSR regime. The welfare schemes introduced by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy had reached all sections of people.
TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi said that when Rajasekhar Reddy was Chief Minister, he had launched several development and welfare schemes like free power supply to agriculture, free supply of seeds to farmers, loan waiver, etc. He said YSR had given fee reimbursement to all sections and launched Aarogyasri for the treatment of the poor in corporate hospitals.
