Sushma Swaraj assures family all support
Hyderabad: Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj offered her condolences to the grieving family of Sharath Koppu, and assured that she would follow up with the local Kansas police on the investigation into the fatal shooting. She said his family would be extended every assistance it sought.
Many ministers visited the residence of the bereaved family in Ameerpet on Sunday. Minister K.T. Rama Rao assured the family that the state government would help bring back Sharath’s body in two days. He would bear the expenses, he said.
Speaking to this newspaper, Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy said the family had spoke to TS DGP Mahendar Reddy. He said the Indian Consulate in Chicago and the DGP were in touch with the family.
He said he had sent a message to the Indian National Overseas Congress. “We are trying to help in facilitating the earliest dispatch of Sharath’s body.” He said Sharath’s family had refused an offer to fly to the US, and wanted the body brought home.
